Frequently asked questions about containers
What is the difference between Managed Kubernetes and Managed OpenShift?
Kubernetes is the open standard for container orchestration. OpenShift builds on it and adds integrated developer tools, its own container registry, log aggregation and stricter defaults for permissions and security. Kubernetes is a fit if you want to shape the platform yourself; OpenShift if strict security and compliance requirements have to be met.
Does kyberio run the container platform or only the servers underneath?
We run the platform. Setup, updates, monitoring and fault resolution are ours; you work with your applications on it.
Do the containers run in Germany?
Yes. The clusters run in our data centres in Hanover and Wolfsburg; a site in Frankfurt is planned. Both are certified to ISO 27001 based on BSI IT-Grundschutz.
Do I get my own cluster or do I share it?
Your own. We set up the cluster for you and run it — we do not offer shared container infrastructure on which several customers run side by side. It is the same line as with our other services: what runs for you runs only for you.
Can I combine containers with other kyberio services?
Yes. The container platform can be connected to further cloud functions, such as load balancing and storage.
